Your first mini writing prompt for this week is Resolution!
So without further ado, here it is!
Olive looked up over the top of her coffee cup without raising her head. "So," she drew out the small word with her specific brand of mischievousness (and, if I'm honest, cuteness). "Do you have any resolutions for this year?"
A little caught by surprise by the change in subject, I placed my mug on the table and tried to hide the grin that was trying to stretch across my whole face.
She continued to look at me with her trickster doe eyes as she lowered her own cup.
In that moment, a thousand memories flashed before me. Standing under the Christmas lights in the park. Countless hours laughing together in our apartments. Surprising her with coffee. Listening to each other's panic attacks. Fighting each other's monsters. Pulling her close on good days and bad. Lighting up when she walked into my apartment on day I didn't want to talk to anyone.
Olive was the best listener, supporting any weird impulsive idea I had and cursing anyone or anything that I vent about.
"I have one, yeah." I said, letting the pause hang in the air and enjoying the frustrations and anticipation build in her face. She would know. Soon enough.
